The island city
was reclaimed from the sea
The Sea will take it back, one day.
We are all passer bys
migrants, drifters, dreamers, fortune seekers,
time travelers,
anchored for a while
till we set sail again
The map is constantly being redrawn
yesterday it was an archipelago of seven mythical creatures
today it’s an ugly, deceiving, alluring monster
with an unflinching appetite?
to devour us all
We don’t belong here.
Some will drown in this dream
some will stay afloat
for a while
before fading into the horizon.
